Kings XI Punjab co-owner Priety Zinta took to Twitter to deny having any kind of war of words with team mentor Virender Sehwag as reported by Mumbai Mirror, which claimed that the Bollywood actress had blamed Sehwag for the side's defeat against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday 9 May.
On the social media site Zinta slam the report. She said, "Mumbai Mirror gets it wrong again because we didn’t do Media net & pay them to write articles cuz that’s the only time they get it right. A conversation between Viru & me has been blown out of proportion & suddenly I’m a Villian ! Wow !"
Apart from Zinta’s Twitter outburst, KXIP too issued a statement where they called the whole saga a 'figment of imagination of some interested parties'.
This is in response to the articles that have been doing the rounds in the last couple of days on the reported disagreement after Kings XI’s last game. The stories have led to a lot of speculation and we at Kings XI Punjab would like to clarify that all is well and the incident being referred to, is a figment of imagination of some ‘interested parties’Statement released by Kings XI Punjab.
Earlier, Mumbai Mirror had reported about a rift between Zinta and Sehwag after Punjab skipper Ravinchandran Ashwin up the order which didn't go down well with the co-owner as Ashwin was back in the dugout for a duck on just the second ball that he faced.
According to the report, after the incident Sehwag spoke to other owners of KXIP and asked them to stop Zinta from ‘interfering’ with his job.
“Sehwag had told the other owners to rein in Preity. He told the owners that he’ll not comment on Preity’s acting chops and she should refrain from talking about his cricketing acumen,” the source was quoted as saying to Mumbai Mirror.
In this edition of the IPL, Kings XI Punjab have been one of the top teams winning six out of their 10 matches so far. But they have lost their sheen a bit since losing two out of their last three matches.
KXIP next face Kolkata Knight Riders at their adopted home at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on Saturday and will look to win to move closer to a play-off berth.
