Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, who was scheduled to perform at the opening ceremony of the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) this season, won’t be performing at the event to avoid aggravating a shoulder injury.

Ranveer had injured his shoulder during a football match and has been strictly advised by doctors to avoid performing at the cricket tournament's opening ceremony on April 7.

After multiple medical checkups, the doctors have strongly advised Ranveer Singh not to perform at this year’s IPL opening ceremony in which he was doing the grand finale act. They feel his high-energy performance would only over strain his shoulder and aggravate the injury.

However, Ranveer's film shoot has not been disrupted.

“Ranveer will continue to shoot for 'Gully Boy' as per its shooting schedule which is not physically strenuous since only performance-based talkie scenes are left to be shot,” the spokesperson added.

The 11th edition of the IPL is all set to begin on April 7. Apart from Ranveer Singh, Bollywood stars Parineeti Chopra, Varun Dhawan and Jacqueline Fernandez will be performing at the opening ceremony. The ceremony is expected to run for around ninety minutes in Mumbai and will end around 7:15 pm, 15 minutes prior to toss.

As reported earlier, only two captains MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma will be attending the ceremony as the first match is scheduled to take place between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium

Mumbai Indians are the defending champions, CSK on the other side are making a return back after they facing a two-year ban.
