Mumbai Indians beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 102 runs on Wednesday, 9 May, in the IPL 2018.

Chasing a massive target of 211, KKR’s batsmen failed to deliver and were wrapped up at 108 in 18.1 overs at the Eden Gardens. The defeat resulted in Kolkata surrendering the fourth position in the league table to the Mumbai Indians courtesy to the latter’s better run rate.

In the 23 meetings between the two teams in IPL history, Mumbai Indians have finished on top on 18 occasions. The win at Eden Garden’s was Mumbai’s eighth straight victory over KKR.

After losing the toss, Mumbai Indians were put to bat first and rode on teenage wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan's 21-ball 62 to register a tremendous total of 210 runs.

The Jharkhand left-hander's pyrotechnics between the 10th and 15th over fetched Mumbai 73 runs as they posted a mammoth 210/6.

In reply, Kolkata were never in the chase, losing wickets at regular intervals. Chris Lynn (21) and Nitish Rana (21) were the top-scorers as Mumbai effected two run outs with Pandya brothers, Krunal (2/12) and Hardik (2/16) returning best figures.
