Chennai Super Kings have scripted the perfect comeback, beating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets on Sunday night to win the IPL 2018 title.
MS Dhoni’s CSK were suspended from the league for two seasons after their owner was caught in a scandal, however, on their return this year Chennai have added a third IPL trophy to their cabinet.
In the final at Wankhede on Sunday, Dhoni won the toss and asked Kane Williamson’s Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat first. The skipper himself made 47 and a late charge from Yusuf Pathan helped SRH post 178/6 in their 20 overs.
In the chase, Shane Watson was slow to get off the blocks, going ten deliveries without scoring a run. However, once his bat made contact, it did not stop till Chennai were past the finish line. The 36-year-old smashed 117, the highest-score in an IPL final, as Chennai went on to win the match by 8 wickets.
