Right-arm medium pacer Keshav Dabas caught a lot of attention during Indian team’s net session at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi on Saturday, 2 November. He dismissed both the Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan with two impressive deliveries.
The 19-year-old lad from Delhi was bowling to the Indian team in the nets ahead of their first T20 against Bangladesh.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, Keshav was an official net bowler when Australia came to India earlier this year. He has even represented Delhi U-19 in one match last season but had to miss out from the squad this year.
Indian coach Ravi Shastri appreciated the young boy and said, “well bowled” while Indian seamer Shardul Thakur asked Keshav, “Which club do you play for?”.
Keshav was left speechless after earning the appreciation from the Indian coach and players . “It’s a great feeling… Ab kya bolu samajh nei aa raha,” Keshav told Hindustan Times.
Keshav lost his father in June this year due to a brain stroke, resulting in financial constraints. He wants to ease the burden on his siblings – who have been managing the household expenses – and believes that playing cricket is the only way for him to do so.
In a statement to Hindustan Times, Keshav said, “Isi liye toh cricket khel raha hu… It’s still a long way to go but I hope my dreams come true.”
