BCCI President Jagmohan Dalmiya’s 16-year-old grandson was booked for allegedly assaulting the Kolkata traffic Police last night when they asked for his driver’s license. He was caught for rash driving.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night when the class 10 student was returning from Salt Lake stadium with his friends. He was produced before the Juvenille Justice Board today. He was later allowed to go home as the charges were proved not to be grave in nature.
His family has filed a counter complaint saying he was kept for 6 hours without food or water and was tortured by being hit and dragged. Moreover, the doctors have confirmed that he was dehydrated.
The police however say they spotted a black Totoya Innova last night taking a sharp turn from EM Bypass towards Jadavpur connector and then took a U-turn. The boy sitting next to his driver allegedly started using filthy language and snatched the walkie-talkie from one of the sergeants when they demanded the license of his driver. They also alleged that the boy was making calls and taking names of affluent people and even punched one of the cops.
Dalmiya’s grandson will have to appear before the Juvenile Justice Board next Wednesday.
