It has been an astonishing week for the Indian athletes at the 18th Asian Games in Indonesia and it has rather been a tremendous evening for Dutee Chand, Arpinder Singh and Swapna Barman on Wednesday, 29 August.
Right after Dutee Chand’s silver finish at the women’s 200m final, Arpinder Singh won a gold in men's triple jump with a comprehensive jump of 16.77 meters.
More good news were yet to come on the 12th day of the Asian Games as Indian heptathlete Swapna Barman bagged gold despite battling a bad toothache.
India now has bagged 11 golds in athletics with a total of 54 medals after day 12 of the Asian Games.

Praises Pour in For Winners
Prime minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, former cricketer Virender Sehwag and others congratulated Arpinder Singh for winning the men’s triple jump gold medal after 48 years.
Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif congratulated both Arpinder and Swapna on their top finish and said that it was an “absolutely top effort”.
Rajyvardhan Rathore’s also joined in singing praises for Swapna Barman. He wrote on Twitter, “Standing ovation to Swapna Barman, who, in a majestic display, clinched a gold.”
