Asian Games Day 9 Schedule: Neeraj, Women’s Hockey in Action

Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu will look to win their semi-final clashes for an all Indian finals at the Asian Games.

There is absolutely no time for Monday blues for the Indian athletes at the Asian Games on 27 August as the contingent will be lined up for back to back finals in their respective events in the evening.

The day start with the Equestrian for India at 6:30 IST where Kevic Setalvad, Chetan Reddy will be competing in the 1st Qualification round of men’s individual jumping event.

Later in 10:30 IST the duo of PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal who have already been assured of medal at the Asian Games after winning the quarter-finals, will look to set up an all-Indian final at the 18th Asian Games.

Sindhu takes on Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi whereas Nehwal will be battling it out against the best player in the world, Tzuing Tai.

Later in the day, the Indian women’s hockey team will play their group match against Thailand at 12:30 IST. The Indian team has scored 33 goals in their last three matches and have conceded only one in return.

The evening is scheduled to be packed for athletics and boxing.

There are four boxing matches scheduled on Monday and will begin from 3 pm IST with Vikas Krishan going up against Pakistan’s Tanveer Ahmed in the 75kg middle weight category.

The men will be competing in four separate weight categories.

India track and field athletes will be competing for medals in 5 events tomorrow.

India’s flag-bearer Neeraj Chopra will take stage at 5:15 pm IST and will be looking to repeat his CWG show in the men’s javelin throw final.

Alongside Neeraj Chopra Nayana James and Neena Varakil will compete in the women’s long jump finals.

Juana Murmu and Anu Raghavan will be competing in their 400m hurdles final at 5:15 pm IST.

Men and women’s 3000m steeplechase final will see the participation of Shankar Lal Swami (men’s), Sudha Singh and Chinta Yadav who will try to keep the momentum running after a good day 8 for the Indian athletes.
