With India bagging just 2 medals at the Rio Olympics, even Prime Minister Narendra Modi is now feeling the need to step in and intervene.

At the meeting of his Council of Minister’s on Friday, the Prime Minister announced that a Task Force is being set up to prepare an action plan for a better showing at the next three Olympics, in 2020, 2024 and 2028.

The Task Force will prepare an overall strategy for sports facilities, training, selection procedure and other related matters and be comprised of in-house experts as well as those from outside.

The committee will be set up in the next few days, the PM said.

At the 2016 edition of the Olympics in Rio this month, India had sent its largest-ever contingent. The 118 players however managed to win only two medals, a silver and a bronze, with India finishing 67th in the medal tally.
