Recently, cricketers Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya and Suresh Raina, among others, surprised everyone by trading in their bearded look for a well-styled one. The Indian cricket team which had almost started looking like clones of one another, now had unique identities. They took to social media and shared pictures and videos of their #BreakTheBeard look with their fans. This trend caught on and soon fans started responding to their favourite cricketers with evidence of their makeovers.
The best part about this trend is that it celebrates individuality. Rather than encouraging people to imitate one another, this trend is all about personal identity. More than anything else, it subtly underlines the importance of a groomed appearance.
Well, guess what? Now our Kabaddi players too have joined in and started flaunting their well-groomed avatars. See how Mumbai Kabaddi team U Mumba’s captain Anup Kumar took the panga.
In the last few years, kabaddi has become really popular and has amassed a huge fan base. More and more youngsters are keenly following the sport. With Bollywood stars joining hands with kabaddi teams, the sport has come to be associated with glamour and style. So while our cricketers are busy flaunting their makeovers, how could our kabaddi players, who are no strangers to challenges, stay behind?
Taking a cue from Anup Kumar, Rakesh Narwal of Gujarat Fortunegiants too decided to sport a sharp look.
Between Anup and Rakesh, the latter’s look is definitely our favourite.
Looks like our original Break The Beard man Ravindra Jadeja was feeling left out. He took to social media to tweet a picture of himself sporting a clean look, while also cheering Anup and Rakesh. Check out his new moustache look.
Anup Kumar took his tweet sportingly and shared a cheeky response in return. Such camaraderie between these sportsmen of two different sports is really heartwarming.
It’s great to see kabaddi receive all the attention from fans and other sportspersons alike. And by taking daadi se panga, the players have shown that they’re always up for challenges, whether on the ground or off it.
Now let’s see which other players jump on this bandwagon.
