Defending champions and hosts India beat Pakistan by 9 wickets to retain their T20 Blind World Cup title on Sunday in Bangalore. Batting first, Pakistan made 197/9 but India chased down the target in 18 overs, losing just one wicket in the process.
India remain the only team to have ever won the T20 World event, having beaten Pakistan in the final of the previous edition as well.
With eight wins from nine matches, India had gone into the final as favourites and lived up to it with a comprehensive victory. For Pakistan though, it was their first loss in the tournament.
Pakistan batted first and posted 197/9 with ‘man of the series’ Badar Munir top-scoring for the team with 57 scored in 37 balls. Muhammad Jamil supported him with a 24 and Amir Ishfaq added 20.
India’s bowlers Ketan Patel and Jaffar Iqbal were the pick of the lot, grabbing two wickets each after conceding 29 and 33 runs respectively.
In reply, ‘man of the match’ Prakash Jayaramaiah stood out with a splendid unbeaten 99-run knock, while Ajay Kumar Reddy was the only man to be dismissed for 43. Reddy was run out.
