Mo Farah, 33, the British distance runner with two recent gold medals to his name and now the third-consecutive victory in the Great North Run, was reportedly left feeling “humiliated” when a flight attendant told him off while he was boarding a plane back home from the Rio Olympics with his wife Tania, 30 and daughter Rihanna, 11.
The four-time Olympic champion’s wife and distance runner herself, Tania Farah, claims that a Delta Airlines official shouted at Farah asking him to go back to the end of the line, not believing that Mo and his family had first-class tickets.
Farah claims that the attendant treated her husband like a “piece of shit” until people came forward and explained who he was.
She was mortified afterwards but had basically yelled at him like he was a piece of sh*t to get back into line. He was the only black person and hadn’t done anything to warrant it.Tania Farah speaking to The Sunday Telegraph
Other sources have, however, mentioned that the family missed the first-class boarding because of which they were asked to then wait till the economy-class boarding was over. It was during this 10-minute period that Tania reportedly launched into a foul-mouthed rant against the official, calling her “f***ing pathetic” for leading a “sad little life”.
Delta Airlines has said they are investigating the issue and will remain directly in touch with the Farah family.
