The Central Bureau of Investigations registered a case against NDTV co-founders Prannoy Roy, Radhika Roy, a private company, and others on Monday.
The CBI had last week registered a case into alleged irregularities and fraud in a loan sanctioned by ICICI Bank. Consequently, raids were conducted at four of Roy’s properties, including his residence in New Delhi.
The media fraternity has strongly criticised this move, and NDTV itself has called it a witch-hunt. Others have asked for more concrete proof.
Several Condemn the Raid
Counter-Reactions
Others were more supportive of CBI’s decision to raid Roy’s properties and pursue charges against him.
Politicians Venkaiah Naidu and Subramanian Swamy were of the opinion that the law was taking its own course and there was no “witch-hunt” involved.
