In what we hope is just the beginning of a string of honours, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav announced a cash reward of one crore rupees for Paralympian Varun Singh Bhati on Wednesday for winning a bronze medal in the Paralympic Games in Rio.
Congratulating Bhati on his achievement, the Uttar Pradesh CM, in an official release, said:

Through his hard work and dedication, Varun Bhati has put up a great show and achieved this feat earning honour for the country and the state.
“His achievement will prove to be an encouragement for the divyangs (people with disabilities)”, added Yadav.
Bhati, who hails from Jamalpur village in Greater Noida, won a bronze in the high jump event in the Paralympic Games on 10 September.
