Thirty-four-year-old Sunil Kumar from Taranagar in Patna, Bihar joined the army in 2002. A sports enthusiast, he has trained recruits in the Danapur Army Camp in Patna – and won many awards for it.

He last spoke to his wife on 6 June for a couple of minutes before mentioning connectivity woes. Sunil never shared any difficulties he might have been facing, and would always reply with, "I am in the army, living like how people in the army live'. I am fine".

After 18 years of his service in the army, he had planned to move to Hyderabad and spend time with his children. Sunil is survived by his parents, wife and 3 children.
