In yet another dramatic move, Samajwadi Party’s Uttar Pradesh state unit president, Shivpal Yadav, announced on Tuesday that he would form a new party after 11 March, the day the election result will be declared.
I filed my nomination papers; there were a lot of hurdles but I still filed the papers on SP’s cycle symbol. We ran the government for five years; was my ministry’s performance inferior to others?
SP supremo Mulayam Singh is not very supportive of the SP-Congress alliance for the upcoming assembly polls, and claimed that the SP can win the elections on its own might. Supporting his brother’s stance, Shivpal warned his nephew and UP CM Akhilesh Yadav of the dangers of forming a new government in alliance with the Congress.
“You make the government, we will make a new party,” Shivpal, the warring uncle of Akhilesh, said.
Addressing a rally in Etawah, Shivpal said:
What was the Congress’s condition before this? They could not even win four seats in Uttar Pradesh. What will our men do now? We know that there are people in the party who are responsible for an inter-conflict, be careful of them.
