On Monday, Union Minister Uma Bharti said that the disputed land in Ayodhya belongs to the Ram temple. The Ram Lalla temple is one of the holy sites of worship for Hindus in Ayodhya.

The disputed land was earlier the site of the Babri Masjid which was demolished in 1992 triggering violent communal riots in the area.

Additionally, Mahesh Sharma, Culture Minister, is set to visit Ayodhya on Tuesday, with the goal of developing Ayodhya and the Ramayana circuit for Indian tourism, he said to CNN-News18.

When asked if the controversial site is being pitched strategically right before the UP elections, Sharma denied it, saying that his ministry’s concern is only the development of tourism in Ayodhya.

The minister will visit the disputed site as well, as part of his visit.
