Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi returned to Delhi on Thursday after his month-long political campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

In his first address after returning to Delhi, Rahul Gandhi launched an offensive against Modi. He accused the Prime Minister of doing dalali (trade) over the blood shed by Indian soldiers.

Modi ji promised bank accounts to everyone, but there is no money in those accounts. All his promises were fake. Ye desh Modi ji se insaaf chata hai, aur ye unki zimmedari hai. Kaha hai 15 lakh, kaha hai unke saare vaade. Aapne 2 cheeze zarur ki hain, ek Hindustani ko dusre se ladane ka kaam kia, bantne ka kaam kia hai. Humare jawan hain jinho ne khoon diya hai, jinho ne surgical strike kiya, unke khoon ke peeche aap (PM) chhupe huye ho. Unki (jawans) aap (PM) dalali kar rahe ho. (This country needs justice and Modiji owes it to the country. Where is the Rs 15 lakh he promised? What happened to his promises? You have only manage to pit one Indian against another. Our soldiers are flowing their blood, carrying out surgical strikes, and you are hiding behind them. You are playing politics with the blood of our soldiers.)

Feeling the Heat

Facing major flak over his ‘dalali’ comment, Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter to clarify his stance.

False Hopes

I’m not saying that the government should not help big businessmen. If the government waives big business loans, it should waive farmers’ loans as well.
Rahul Gandhi, Congress Vice President

He said he worked in the best interest of farmers.

Rahul Gandhi repeatedly blamed the government for being in favour of big businesses and effectively working against the farmers.

He said that the BJP had promised the farmers best prices and implementation of the MS Swaminathan report, "but you didn't fulfil that as well”.
