Cyclone Fani hit the eastern coast of India, making landfall in the the city of Puri in Odisha, on 3 May. The state has been preparing in anticipation of this super cyclone for a week to minimize the impact. Fani, however, is bigger and more ferocious than all other cyclones Odisha has had to dealt with, perhaps, since the super cyclone of 1999.
