Writer, actor and director Parikshat Sahni recently released a biography on his father and legendary actor, Balraj Sahni, known for his great work in films like Do Bhiga Zameen, Kabuliwala, Garam Hava and many others. The book, titled ‘The Non-Conformist, Memories of My Father Balraj Sahni’, has a foreword written by Amitabh Bachchan, who has always revered the actor.

In this week’s episode of Reel Deal, Parikshat Sahni talks about what made Balraj Sahni one of the most natural actor of his times, the man he was once the lights and camera were turned off, and why he was a non-conformist.

Speaking about the experience of writing the book, Parikshat says, “It was difficult and it was painful also because I miss him very much, and some of memories were pleasant and some were unpleasant. The last chapter was very difficult because it was not a very happy chapter. Brought back very painful memories. But otherwise it was a very cathartic experience because I think nobody knew him as a man. People knew him as an actor so I felt they should know him as a human being, as a person, as a man, as a father, as I knew him as a husband.”
