After Mumbai’s BMC approved the cutting of 2,700 trees in Aarey Colony, the citizens teamed up for a protest against the same. Among those who led the protest was Bollywood actor Shraddha Kapoor. On Sunday, Shraddha was seen protesting in the rain. She carried a board, with the words #SaveAarey, in one hand and an umbrella in another.

Shraddha also took to Instagram to share a message.
She wrote, “Unacceptable. Shocking. As if we don’t have enough environmental issues already. As if Mumbai doesn’t have enough pollution already. And permission is granted to chop off the lungs of the city. This HAS TO STOP.”
While no other Bollywood celebrity was present at the protest, some of them took to social media to express their concerns and call action against the decision to cut trees in Aarey Colony.
“Not against the #Metro. Please build it. But not at the cost of disrupting an ecological system that provides invaluable human services.ALTERNATIVES for the car shed EXIST. It may take more time. But choose better! STOP MASSACRE OF #AAREYFOREST” wrote Dia Mirza.
Randeep Hooda also took to Twitter to write, “we cry over Amazon fires and watch this destruction in our ow backyard rather quietly?”
