In Pics: India Celebrates Eid in the Shadow of Govt’s J&K Move

The Kashmir Valley too celebrated the festival, but amid strict restrictions after the revocation of Article 370.

India celebrated Eid al-Adha, or the Feast of the Sacrifice, on Monday, 12 August. The festival is also known as Bakrid and is celebrated by Muslims across the world.

The Kashmir Valley too celebrated the festival, but amid strict restrictions that are in place after the decision to revoke provisions of Article 370. People were not allowed to assemble in large groups and traffic restrictions were put in place. Barring stray protest Eid prayers at various mosques in the state concluded peacefully, officials claimed.

Kashmiris living in other states, away from their homes and families, also celebrated an emotional Eid.
