Actor Hugh Jackman, who’s best known for his performance as the battered and bruised Wolverine in the X-Men movies turns a year older today (12 October). But the actor has only been growing younger since he began his career on celluloid in the 90s.
Jackman of the 90s
Before the Australian actor bared his claws as Wolverine in X-Men (2000), he worked in various television shows and also performed on stage. The actor played the role of Gaston in the musical, Beauty and the Beast.
A Mutant and a Romantic, all in one
Over the years, the actor has managed to make a smooth transition from an action hero to a romantic star without much of a hiccup.
The mutant romanced Meg Ryan in 2001 film, Kate and Leopold.
He featured in another lesser known rom-com, Someone Like You... opposite Ashley Judd.
If you haven’t seen the film already, you should check out the trailer here.
Jackman, who prepared for his role in Wolverine by watching Mike Tyson fight, has also starred in Van Helsing (2004) as a “notorious monster hunter”.
His physical transformation as Wolverine in the X-men films has been quite dramatic as well.
Here’s wishing Hugh Jackman, a very happy birthday!
