India brought in Diwali on Thursday, 19 October, with diyas, lights, and in some cases where it was permitted (or even not permitted), with crackers.
The cracker ban imposed by the Supreme Court in Delhi NCR did little to dampen the spirits of the festival. The city was decorated with lights, and the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data even showed that the air quality in the capital this year was better than last year.
