When you think of Ayodhya, you think of the Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid dispute that has been a fault line of Indian politics for decades. But pause to consider that there is now an entire generation of voters who was not even born when the demolition took place in 1992.
What are their aspirations? What do they dream of? To see the elections through their prism, we stopped #OnTheRoad at Paradise Gym – one of only two gyms in Ayodhya town.
Amid young men who were working out, we asked whether Ayodhya’s volatile history was relevant to them and what they saw in their own futures.
As for the posters on the wall, well, the gym owner told us that most of Ayodhya's fitness freaks were aspiring to an "international body" !
