BJP leader Swati Singh has had an unusual political journey so far. Less than a year ago, Singh made headlines after she stood up to the BSP supporters who abused her, her daughter and her mother-in-law after husband Dayashankar Singh’s now infamous “prostitute” remark against Mayawati.
She turned the tables on the BSP, by furiously accusing its party members of sexism. She was later appointed the Uttar Pradesh President of the Bharatiya Janata Party's Mahila Morcha. This election season, Singh is all set to contest from Sarojini Nagar Assembly constituency in Lucknow on a BJP ticket.
Barkha Dutt speaks to Singh about her political career and her upcoming poll battle against Mayawati.
