US President Donald Trump took his attack on media three steps further as he blocked news organisations like CNN, New York Times, Politico, Los Angeles Times, BuzzFeed from a press briefing.
The briefing was an informal gathering of reporters from across print, television and radio and the White House Correspondents Association is protesting against the ban.
Associated Press and TIME Magazine boycotted White House press briefing after several media outlets were blocked.
Donald Trump and his administration have repeatedly called the media “fake”, “enemy of the people” and the “opposition party”.
The press that was allowed into the meeting was conservative outlets like Breitbart, Washington Times, One America News Network, the organisations Trump considers “friendly”.
As CNN reported, there was a list ahead of the briefing which was “abnormal” but they went and put their names on it to be included. However, when time came to attend the briefing, they were blocked by a White House staffer saying they were not on the list.
