Charanjeet Singh, a Sikh community leader and human rights activist, was shot dead in broad daylight by bike borne assailants in Pakistan’s Peshawar, multiple reports said on Tuesday, 29 May.
The incident happened at Scheme Chowk, Budhbir area of Peshawar, when Singh was sitting in his shop, Pakistan media reported. The killers fled immediately.
Singh moved to Peshawar nearly 20 years back and was a respected leader in the region.
According to news agency ANI, the exact motive behind the incident is still unknown, community and local political leaders suspect Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) involvement in the assassination.
The police have launched an investigation after lodging a case at Inqalab Police Station, reports said.
