Modi in Berlin: Community Dinner, Siemens Visit and Dhokla For PM

On day two of his 3-nation tour, PM Narendra Modi arrived in Berlin, attended a Indian community dinner where he was served dhoklas.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, inaugurated the ‘India Pavilion’ at the Hannover Messe.

He also address an India-German business summit inviting investors with promises of a new India and highlighted the benefits of doing business with India.

Indian Participation in German Fair

At the Hannover Messe international trade fair, Modi thanked Germany for inviting India to be a partner at the fair and noted that over 400 Indian companies are participating.

This year, 14 Indian states are participating at the fair, competing with each other to get investment. Demography, democracy and demand make India attractive to the world today.

At the fair, a total of 45 celebrity chefs from India prepared mango lassi for Merkel and served Gujarati delicacies like khandvis, dhoklas and khakras for Modi. The two leaders also shared a cup of tea.

Siemens Facility Visit

The Indian PM also visited a facility of the German technology giant Siemens. He was briefed by top officials of the company including Siemens CEO Joe Kaeser.

The facility trains approximately 1300 students from around the world in technologies like railway signalling and other engineering skills.

Certain students made a presentation for the Indian PM. Two of them made a presentation of making of a coffee vending machine.

Community Dinner

In the evening, he attended an Indian community at the dinner hosted by the Indian Ambassador Vijay Gokhale.

At the event, the PM asked Indian professionals in Germany to act as a bridge between the two countries to help pitchfork India as a global manufacturing hub, promising a conducive atmosphere for it. He said:

Becoming a manufacturing hub is not merely an economic activity, it is a matter of our pride that we will give to the world rather than just take from it.
