Lady Gaga has joined hands with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to combat sexual assault cases in US universities. The singer, who is herself a victim of sexual assault, has issued a joint written piece with Cuomo pleading with the New York authorities to approve the legislation preventing the same.
This comes in the wake of the alarming rise of sexual assault cases in US universities — close to 20% women students have complained of rape or attempted rape in the first year itself.
The bill that has been introduced by the Governor needs to be passed by June 17, which will be implemented at the State University afterwards. The same will be eventually extended to other universities.
