At least 8 people are said to have been wounded after a suicide bomber blew himself up at the Imam al-Sadeq Mosque in the Sawaber district of Kuwait city.
According a statement posted on social media, the Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack that may have killed and wounded several people.
The incident took place while Friday prayers were on at the Shi’ite Muslim mosque, al-Jarida, a Kuwaiti newspaper said on social media.
Eight casualties have been taken to the Emiri hospital, two in critical condition.

Al Jazeera and al-Arabiya, two Arab TV networks, also reported that an explosion caused several casualties at the mosque.
