ISIS has once again released a video showing gruesome killings, this time of two Turkish soldiers. They were being held in captivity.

The video, which is nearly 19 minutes long, shows the two uniformed men being hauled from a cage by ISIS, bound, and then burned alive. It was supposedly shot in the ‘Aleppo province’ of Syria.

Posted on jihadist websites, the killing is a response to Ankara’s declaration of fighting ‘terror’ in Syria soon after they lost 16 soldiers in a battle against ISIS fighters.

Calling for “destruction to be sowed” in Turkey, the killer criticised Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking in Turkish all the while.

The Turkish army had said last month that it had lost contact with two of its men, while Amaq, an IS-linked news agency said that two Turkish soldiers had been kidnapped by the terror organisation.

Turkey’s unprecedented four-month long incursion into Syria has led to its biggest loss till now when 16 soldiers were killed in a succession of attacks by ISIS, around the Syrian town Al-Bab.

The number of casualties shows how the battle for Al-Bab, which lies 35 kilometres northeast of Aleppo, has only intensified over time.

The manner in which the two Turkish soldiers have been killed brings back memories of the killing of Maaz al-Kassasbeh, a Jordanian fighter pilot, who was burnt alive in a cage by ISIS. He was captured in December 2014 after his plane went down in Syria.
