Former President of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak would be retried in the case of the 2011 killing of close to 240 protesters, Egypt High Court said on Thursday.

He was given a life imprisonment in 2012 but the charges against the former President were dropped on November 29, 2014.

This led to protests in Cairo – home to the Arab Spring – in an area called Tahrir Square, which killed two people.

The public prosecution had appealed to the court on December 2, 2014, against the court’s decision to drop charges against Mubarak.

The judge accepted the public prosecution’s appeal today.

The third and final retrial would begin on November 5.
