Hafiz Saeed, chief of the Jamaat-ud-Dawa and mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, can pose a serious threat to society, said Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif at the Munich Security Conference on 19 February, according to a report in The Nation.

According to The Nation, which cites BBC as the original news report, Asif was addressing the audience in a panel discussion on countering extremism and terrorism. He opposed the term 'Islamic terrorism' and pointed out that over ninety percent of those killed in terrorist strikes are Muslims.

Hafiz Saeed was listed under Pakistan's anti-terrorism act this month by the provincial Punjab government. He was also placed under house arrest on 30 January 2017 in Lahore.
