Freddie Gray Death: Baltimore Officer Acquitted of Four Charges

Officer Edward Nero was found not guilty of second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and misconduct in office.

• In a verdict handed down by a Baltimore judge, a police officer was acquitted on Monday of four charges in the case of Freddie Gray, an African American who died in custody a year ago, sparking riots and protests against US police brutality.
  
  
• Officer Edward Nero was found not guilty of second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and two counts of misconduct in office. There are six officers, including Nero who are being tried over Gray’s death.
  
  
• Gray (25) died after sustaining a broken spine in a police van during his arrest in April 2015.
