On Tuesday, a French sniper accidentally shot at and injured two people during a speech by President Francois Hollande, as BBC reported.
The shot was accidentally fired while the president was inaugurating a new fast train in the western town of Villognon, according to Pierre N’Gahane, top official of the area.
Local media has reported that the people injured were a waiter and an employee of the train company - one in the leg and the other in the foot.
Another report said that the gun’s safety catch was unlocked which led to it getting discharged.
Officials say that the lives of those injured are not in danger while a judicial probe into the matter has been launched.
(Further details are awaited)
