The Quint spoke with Bangladeshi journalist and student from UC Berkeley, Sabhanaz Rashid, in the aftermath of the Dhaka tragedy and the attacks on free-thinking, liberal intellectuals in the country.

Since 2013, six secular bloggers, a professor, and a publisher have been hacked to death but the country’s authorities have made little progress with their investigation.

In the wake of these killings, Bangladesh witnessed a bloody terror attack in the heart of its capital, Gulshan – a posh locality that is populated chiefly by expatriates.

Rashid takes us through the Bangladesh she grew up in, the nightmarish reality of the present, and what the future might hold.
