The US drone strike that killed Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansoor was also responsible for the death of a driver of a taxi that Mansoor had hired. The family of the driver has registered a case with the police in Pakistan against the unnamed American officials involved in the attack.
Mansoor was killed on 21 May in Pakistan’s Balochistan province after he entered the country from Iran. Officials from Pakistan and the taxi driver’s family said he hired the vehicle in the border town of Taftan, and that the deceased driver Muhammad Azamhad had no links to any militant group.
His brother Muhammad Qasim filed an FIR on Wednesday and accused US officials of murder, terrorism and damage to property, according to the Balochistan police.
My brother was innocent, and very poor. His four children are very young, and he was the family’s sole breadwinner.Muhammad Qasim
