Earthquake of Magnitude 6.1 Strikes Off Java in Indonesia

An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 struck off the Indonesian island of Java on Tuesday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The quake struck about 104 km (64.62 miles) west of the city of Sukabumi at a depth of 33 km (21 miles), but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. It shook some buildings in the capital Jakarta, about 100 km (62 miles) from the location of the quake.
