On Wednesday, 17 October, a letter got disclosed in which US President Donald Trump, urged his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan to act only in "the right and humane way" in Syria, news agency Associated Press reported.
The later is dated 9 October.
The letter starts on a positive note, suggesting they “work out a good deal,” but then talked about crippling economic sanctions and concluded that the world “will look upon you forever as the devil if good things don’t happen. Don’t be a tough guy. Don’t be a fool!”

Threatening to destroy the Turkish economy, the US President added, "Let's work out a good deal! You don't want to be responsible for slaughtering thousands of people, and I don't want to be responsible for destroying the Turkish economy – and I will. I have already given you a little sample with respect to Pastor Brunson."
