There is Zambia, in Eastern Africa and there is Namibia in Southern Africa but there is no 'Nambia' and President Trump is getting roasted on Twitter for inventing it!
During a gathering with African leaders at a United Nations General Assembly session, Trump mistakenly pronounced Namibia as 'Nambia' and the moment went predictably viral.
Twitter was soon abloom with memes and mockery of the US President.
After that little slip, Trump went on to talk about Africa’s burgeoning economic potential – only to follow it up with a rather tasteless anecdote about Africa getting his friends rich.
Africa has tremendous business potential. I have so many friends going to your countries, trying to get rich.
Condemning violence and conflict in the African countries, he said the continent has 'tremendous, tremendous potential'. He said the United States is proud to work with the African countries to “eradicate terrorist safe havens, to cut off their finances, and to discredit their depraved ideology.”
Trump also spoke about their partnership against the “global challenge" from North Korea.
We must all stand together and be accountable in implementing United Nations sanctions and resolutions in response to North Korea’s hostile and menacing actions.
But back to the merciless trolling, if anything good came out of Trump's blunder, it’s that more of the world now probably knows of the existence of a country called Namibia. Silver lining?
