Disney Actor Arrested for Plotting Sex With Minor, Fired From Show

Actor Stoney Westmoreland, who played the character of Ham on the Disney show ‘Andi Mack’ was fired after he was arrested by the US police for trying to meet a 13-year-old boy through a dating app, CNN reported.

In a statement quoted by the Associated Press on Saturday, Disney announced that 48-year-old Westmoreland had been dropped from the sitcom on which he plays the grandfather of the teen-age title character.

According to CNN, Westmoreland was arrested by Salt Lake City Police and members of the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force after he arrived at the arranged spot.

"Given the nature of the charges and our responsibility for the welfare of employed minors, we have released him from his recurring role and he will not be returning to work on the series which wraps production on its third season next week," said the Disney Channel statement, as quoted by CNN.

Andi Mack, an American family comedy-drama television series premiered on Disney Channel in April. It follows the journey of 13-year-old Andi Mack and her best friends, Cyrus Goodman and Buffy Driscoll, as they attend middle school.
