The killers of the Dhaka Terror Attack forced the chefs of the Holey Artisan Bakery to cook all night for them; asking them to cook fish and pasta.
They forced the cook to make sehri for them, the first meal before sunrise during the holy month of Ramzan. They ate all night, and even asked the cook to recite the Quran everyday. This was revealed by one of the chefs who preferred not to reveal his identity, and who later escaped the building, to NDTV.
For nearly 12 hours, these seven young terrorists, from well-to-do families, who hads sworn allegiance to ISIS, had held people hostage at an upscale eatery in Dhaka.
The young assistant chef also revealed that the terrorists used gas cylinders to beat and mutilate dead bodies. He, along with eight other of his colleagues had earlier hid in the toilet, but were later asked by the terrorists to come out.
There were two terrorists – one was carrying an automatic weapon and another had a machete. We came out of the bathroom with our hands in the air, they checked us and asked whether there were any foreigners amongst us. Diago, our foreign cook, had escaped at the very beginning,” he said. “Satisfied there weren’t any foreigners, they packed us back in the bathroom and locked us in.”
A while later, when the commandos started closing in on the bakery, this cook, who revealed his religious identity to being of a Hindu, along with three others took advantage of the noise of the gunfire to climb onto the first floor from which they jumped onto the next building.
