United States' Central Investigative Agency (CIA) started its Instagram account on Thursday, 25 April, with a picture of a desk of mysteries and captioned it, 'I spy with my little eye'.

The picture includes a wig, a CIA badge, handing from the coat, some maps of China and the Gulf, foreign banknotes, a burn bag for getting rid of secret documents, a notebook, a photo and other items. An AFP report says that these are mostly real operation souvenirs of CIA officers.

The Instagram post was an expansion of the spying agency’s effort to recruit people from the younger generation, who have already been on Twitter, Facebook, etc for years.

The agency has been openly recruiting from universities and industry, the AFP report said, reaching a younger demographic.

"We're looking to spark the curiosity of Instagram's users about the many ways CIA's global mission has us going where others cannot go and doing what others cannot do," a CIA statement said.

The agency, however, said that it does not promise any selfies from secret locations.

“Through the account, we’ll give a peek into agency life, but we can’t promise any selfies from secret locations.”
