Car Bomb Explosion in Southern Thailand: One Dead, Many Wounded

Pattani is one of the three Muslim majority southern provinces in Thailand.

• A large car bomb exploded outside a hotel in Thailand’s insurgency-plagued southern region on Tuesday, killing one and wounding 30 people.
  
  
• The explosion occurred before midnight on the outskirts of Pattani, one of the three Muslim majority southern provinces.
  
  
• Pattani has witnessed near-daily shootings and roadside bombs since 2004, which has killed more than 6,500 civilians. Embassies warn nationals against travelling to Pattani because of the conflict between Buddhists and Muslims.
