Multiple Explosions at Tata Steel Plant in UK, 2 Injured

At least three ‘massive’ explosions occurred at a Tata steel plant in Port Talbot in Wales in the early hours on Friday, 26 April, injuring two people.

South Wales Police department said, “We are aware of an incident in TATA Steelworks plant, Port Talbot.” adding that “at this moment only two casualties with minor injuries have been reported.”

Tata Steel also acknowledged the incident and said in a tweet, “We can confirm there are no serious injuries and all employees have been accounted for. All fires are now under control.”

Early indications suggested that the explosion came from a train used to carry molten metal, police was quoted as saying by the report.

“The explosion caused some small fires, which are all under control, and damage to some buildings on the site,” the spokesman said.

Locals reported their houses shook with the force of a blast at the Tata Steel site in Port Talbot in the early hours of Friday.
