There has been a worldwide shock over the brutal manner in which a gunman opened fire in a gay nightclub in Orlando early Sunday morning, killing at least 50 people. This is clearly the deadliest mass shooting in American history. Clearly. this act by the homophobic, mentally disturbed man named Omar Mateen is not an isolated one.

Statistics of the non-profit Gun Violence Archive (GVA) that tracks mass shootings in the United States, points out that there have been 76 days this year with mass shootings in the United States — and 88 days without. A total of 207 people have died in those incidents, including the Orlando shooting victims of Sunday.
