It was a repeat of the Madison Square Garden atmosphere in Toronto as Modi spoke at length to an admiring audience in Ricoh Coliseum during a community reception.

Stating that a new “atmosphere of trust” has evolved in India since he took over approximately a year ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed to “clean up” the mess left behind by his predecessors.

Modi thanked the people of Canada for the grand welcome and they gave him. The PM said that the honour wasn’t for Narendra Modi but for the 125 crore people of India.

Here are 15 things that the Indian PM said during his speech:

1. In times of crisis we do not see the colour of anyone’s passport. We do everything possible for people.

2. We want our youth to be job creators not job seekers. Skill development is very important.

3. I can tell you, India has the strength, what is needed is opportunity.

4. There is one solution to all the problems and that is development.

5. Whatever is happening is not due to Modi but it is due to the people of India.

6. There is a new atmosphere of trust in our Nation.

7. It is not that only the Government has changed. ‘Jan Man’ has changed.

8. The decisions we have taken today have been taken in a friendly atmosphere. Our association is going to be very long.

9. India and Canada, can you image the strength this partnership might have.

10. I came here yesterday and I will go back tomorrow but I will never forget your affection.

11. My experience of working with Canada has always been very good right from the time I was the Chief Minister in Gujarat.

12. Narendra Modi was not the cause Indians made a mark here, you are the cause Indians have made a mark here.

13. This respect is not for a person, it is not for Narendra Modi but it is for the 125 crore people of India.

14. India is a large country, the problem is old and it will take time to clean.

15. I want to thank the PM of Canada and the people of this Nation. Canada has welcomed me with immense enthusiasm.
