WHAT WE FOUND OUT?
The Quint spoke to officials in the Lucknow police who acknowledged the incident and said that there is no communal angle to the story.
Speaking to The Quint, Additional SP of Lucknow Police Sarvesh Mishra said, “Both the parties, the accused and the victim, belonged to the same community. We have arrested all the four accused and the victims are being treated.”
Lucknow Police also shared the story on their Twitter handle, clarifying that the children playing in front of their houses had had a fight following which a fight broke out between these two groups.
According to Mishra, the brother and sister duo, identified as Shahrukh and Shabnam, have been given medical assistance. He said Shabnam is still in the hospital. He also added that the accused have been identified as Usman, Shakil, Yunus and Islam.
On being asked about any action being taken against the police personnel who can be heard in the video asking the brother-sister duo to first get their medical done, Mishra said that an inquiry committee has been set up against the police personnel of Mahigava police station to look into the matter.
