CLAIM
A series of pictures of RSS workers has gone viral. The claim is that these workers were helping in relief and rescue work in the cyclone-stricken state, Odisha after cyclone Fani.
Several Twitter users tweeted and shared these images with the same claim.
The same viral post was shared on Facebook too.
TRUE OR FALSE?
The claim is false as the particular images being shared are from different instances. The workers were not helping out after cyclone Fani. Instead, they were involved in relief work during the cyclone Ockhi and cyclone Titli.
WHAT WE FOUND OUT
On conducting a reverse image search, The Quint was eventually led to a website of the Vishwa Samvad Kendra, Telangana.
A post made on 2 December 2017 shared similar pictures as that of the post claiming that RSS workers were helping in the rescue work during cyclone Fani.
The picture being shared now was actually from when RSS workers helped during the Ockhi cyclone that happened in 2017.
On conducting a search on Yandex, The Quint was led to a Twitter post that gave us the origin of the rest of the images.
These were the exact images that have resurfaced along with the false claim. The original images were clicked during the relief work happening when Odisha was hit by cyclone Titli.
Hence, the claim along with the pictures is false. The images were actually from relief work after past cyclones.
